Just fasten the attachment to the muffler and drive for a while. Thankfully no exhaust actually comes into contact with the patty: the hot air is used to heat a metal plate between the two instead. It's a good thing too, because that would be one smokehouse style burger I would not want to touch!

The submitter informs me that this fix for a broken exhaust pipe lasted nearly two months. Not bad!
