nostalgia

Mom and writer Liesl Testwuide shared a heartwarming letter from her 8-year-old son while he was off on a summer camp adventure. The letter packs so much naive childhood nostalgia that you can't help but put a smile on your face.

Some people think that it's too adorable to be true. But we want to believe.

Plz don't ruin this for us, internet.

Aw… remember the 90s? Who could forget? What with its bright colors, Nicktoons, and digital pets. It was a time to be cherished and one that frequently is.

We all love the 90s, but what would go in your 90s time capsule? We’re guessing it might look a little something like this.

Chika chika chika bop paaaaaa

Oh, sorry, I was just tryping out the theme from the classic Nicktoon Doug. Remember Doug? It was that show about a boring middle schooler, which was somehow really compelling.

Well, one of the thigns that gave that show its charms was the sound effects. From the scatty theme song to all those nasally characters, Doug was just as well known for it's sound as its look.

Great Big Story sat down with the man behind it all. Fred Newman is a voice over artist who mde all those sounds with his mouth. He asl odid voices for Harry and the HndersonsWho Framed Roger Rabbit?, and, everybody's favorite movie, Gremlins

So if you ever watched Doug and wanted to know how all those sounds were made, this is the video for you.

The Golden Age of Nostalgia that was the 1990s saw some of the most radical toys ever invented. Some were entertaining for about 20 minutes, others provided hundreds and hundreds of hours of joy. Whether they found themselves in the storage bin on day two, or are still proudly on display in our homes, each toy brings a warm twinge of nostalgia to our hearts.
