I really really hope this actually works and not just someone trying to make a clever video based on what's happening in the Middle East.

From the Youtube description:

If you don't have electricity: Get two batteries and dunk them in the cup of water for 1 or 1 1/2 hours and then link the mobile phone with USB cable to the water! Great improvised technique for those traveling through revolution areas, or maybe just backpacking somewhere and you don't have electricity.

So one of my friends gave me an iPod touch that needed a new battery. But I didn't want to pay about $15.00 for a new one, considering that I could screw the thing up trying to solder it in. So I got the crazy idea to modify and use the working battery from my old cellphone. But it didn't fit inside the case because it was too thick. So I successfully connected it to the old battery's controller circuit and hooked up the "new" battery. I had to glue it to the outside of the case. Now, everybody wonders what that big black thing is on the back of the ipod. But hey, it works and charges just fine!

Submitter gsimon was in a hotel room with no phone charger. A data cable, a paper clip, a key, and the batteries from the keyboard of the set-top box combined to make a fine substitute.
