One day, you get your dream job, or your dream partner, or some very good opportunity, and sadly, things start to happen to you, and you can't perform at your best. The worst possible outcome is that you get fired or lose the opportunity; hopefully, something less bad happens, and you can learn from the experience and not let your sabotaging urges win.
