The character of Patrick Bateman in the book/movie American Psycho was infamous for, among other things, waxing philosophic on the genius of 1980s Top 40 acts such as Phil Collins and Huey Lewis and the News before cold-bloodedly butchering victims. Author Bret East Ellis might be working on a sequel to American Psycho, and if so, he's already fleshing out the character's attitude towards popular music today.

Isn't there picture of Lady Gaga with the exact same caption? What if pop stars have been trying to shock us with absurd fashion since at LEAST the '60s, and we only feign surprise and scorn each time because we're too scared to admit to ourselves that we as a society are bored as hell?
