"Pearls Before Swine" creator Stephan Pastis contacted the elusive "Calvin" creator Bill Waterson on a whim, and in so doing managed to get the famous cartoonist to draw a series of strips for "Pearls Before Swine." In a clever move, Pastis as a character gives the strip to a second grader (a stand-in for Waterson), who proceeds to show him up at his own game.
Both Calvin and Hobbes and Star Wars strike a nostalgic chord with people who have grown up with them. Maybe this wasn't the fan art you were looking for, but it's everything you need.
