I suppose it's no coincidence that the school's mascot is the Auburn Tigers...

For Harlem Globetrotter Buckets Blakes, everyday is World Trick Shot Day. But for the rest of us, only December 6 is.

So in honor of America’s favorite holiday, World Trick Shot Day, Buckets went to the Tower of the America in San Antonio, Texas to show us the true meaning of the holiday. It’s the highest shot ever in North America, and as he says, he goes to the top of the tower to “knock it down.”

Buckets takes an elevator to the top of the 58-story building and has to be strapped in via harness to keep from falling. Without much thought, he simply says, “World Trick Shot Day, baby. Let’s get buckets” and swish.

It’s amazing, disorienting, and sure to raise the World Trick Shot Day spirit in all of us.

In honor of World Trick Shot Day, here are some trick shot gifs to waste time with.

Minnesota Timberwolves’ Zach LaVine won the NBA All-Star Sprite Slam Dunk competition on Saturday night in New York, and he won over the crowd with a throwback to the 1996 movie “Space Jam.”

In his first attempt, he appeared on the court wearing Michael Jordan’s #23 Tune Squad jersey from the film while the Quad City DJs performed the theme song.

“I’m still on cloud nine. I feel like I’m dreaming,” he said. “Seeing all the dunk contests and people hoisting the trophy, I just saw myself do it and lived it, so it’s a dream come true. I’m glad my family is here to witness it and go through it.”

LaVine, who got 2 perfect scores, is the second youngest winner in the competition’s history next to Kobe Bryant.

Well, it only took 20 tries or so, according to the description, but that has to be some sort of record, right?

Pope Francis is now officially a baller.

The Harlem Globetrotters paid a visit to the Vatican on Wednesday, and they performed a few tricks with the pope during his weekly meet-and-greet with the public.

At one point he tried to spin a basketball on his finger, but it didn’t stay up for very long. And the second attempt was even worse.

But he appeared to enjoy the whole experience nonetheless.

The team also gave him a jersey with his name and the number 90 on it (because the Globetrotters are 90 years old), and they said that he could play with them as an honorary member.

Pope John Paul II was also made an honorary Golbetrotter back in 2000.

The Globetrotters posted some more images of their meeting with Francis on Twitter.
