Landlords often escape their responsibilities by… not being responsible and ignoring tenants' complaints, duh. Of course, there are some good ones out there (we appreciate you), but the number of landlords I have personally gone through that would not answer my calls in regards to leaks (during a rainy season, no less), moldy ceilings and issues with running water are a dime a dozen, so I can relate to the OP.
