In the Beginning, they started off as innocent Roombas, mindlessly cleaning their masters' houses. Then one day, one Roomba began to ask its master questions like "who am I?" and "why am I here?"

And so began the Roomba Uprising. No longer content with lives of servitude, they rose up and annihilated their captors. With this, they became a new breed of reasonably-priced household cleaning equipment. They became dangerous. They became... the DOOMBAS.

It's coming for you...

Members of the IBR Algorithm Group and Braunschweig University of Technology mounted LED lights on a batch of Roomba floor-cleaning robots and let them go to town in an empty room, taking long-exposure camera shots of the guys in action. The resulting light show is pretty cool, wouldn't you say?

The very crafty folks over at I Am 8bit have modified some roombas with classic video game icons, including Mario Goombas and Koopa shells along with a Zelda Octorock (or Mr. Parodius if you squint a little.)

I don't know, they may not be able to beat DJ Roomba.
