Weird Rules that Exist for Specific Reasons

Just about every workplace has a special rule that exists just because of something one person did. From warning labels to work policies, every strange rule started off as a unique and horrible adventure. Human stupidity is the only resource it's impossible to run out of, so there's a rich deposit of things that exist just because people are dumb.

Things People Later Discovered Were Illegal

Honestly, everyone is probably doing something illegal right now. It's not mandatory to be aware of every single law, so in all probability there's some weird edict about wearing underwear on a Friday that no one is respecting. At the same time, there are tons of things that feel illegal but aren't, so everyone is just walking around feeling guilty and confused all the time.

Farmer Sticks It To The Government

As someone in the comments pointed out; the only thing that's more freaking awesome than seeing someone stick it to an organization like the HOA, is seeing someone stick it to the dang government! This farmer handled their situation beautifully. Job well done.

Things That Exist Because of Human Stupidity

Stupidity is one of the only attributes we can trust people to have consistently. Because of this, we have to get extra explicit when it comes to labels and laws. Stuff like, "please don't put salt in eyes" and junk like that. In a similar vein, here are some jobs that only exist because people are dumb. And for some extra scary warnings, here are spooky signs that are doing their job too well.

Police Officers Share Laws They Feel Uncomfortable Enforcing

Someone on AskReddit asked for police officers to share the laws they feel uncomfortable about enforcing, because they don't necessarily agree with them. We've got responses like, how they don't particularly want to bust people out having a good time on the river, as long as they're not being total inconsiderate animals. As well as, angelic cops who literally carry nickels on them to feed the meters to avoid writing tickets. Wherever that is happening sounds like a hell of a place.

25+ Made-Up Facts That Are Way Too Convincing

None of these "facts" are true. They're basically a fun exercise in how things can sound true if you make up some context and throw in some names and dates. They sure sound like they're real though. You may even find some stuff that you've been mistakenly telling people for years. We take no responsibility if you end up repeating these as the truth at a party. That's on you, doofus.
