Someone on AskReddit asked for deaf people to share their biggest surprises upon gaining the ability to hear. Apparently the farting noise always throws people back on their heels in surprise.
To the uninitiated, the world is noisy as hell. There's all kinds of whirring and beeping and chirping. Often, deaf people are surprised to find that things make a sound. Then there are some things that deaf people don't expect to make a sound, like this kid who was shocked to learn that farts make a sound. When you think about it, it seems like the sun should make a sound, shouldn't it?
"I was driving along when I see this deer struggling to survive. I felt obligated to help her, so I pulled over, trekked through the woods, and crawled out onto the ice. I used a rope to pull her out. I am so glad she is safe. Now we need to find her mom.

I will call her Miss Ice River. She must be so cold. I am so happy that she survived. Farewell."
