It's strange to realize that history might actually be interesting and offer useful information about understanding our world. Many of us only realize this after we've left school. Well, at least there are history memes to feel smart about. Instead of teachers and books, we've got sweet inside jokes about people and empires who lived and died years and years ago.

All throughout history, people have needed a quick place to eat. Here's a way too thorough look at what Ancient Roman fast food looked like. Tumblr has some fun history threads, like how mundane people are important to history or these Tumblr gems of a historical persuasion.

Apparently by trying to erase the long and successful reign of this pharaoh, using her stuff as wall filler and throwing all her junk in a dump, they accidentally ended up preserving it. Pretty neat. Tumblr reviews some wild corners of history, like this thread that actually makes history fun. Here's another archaeology themed Tumblr thread about craftspeople being able to identify things that archaeologists couldn't.

Police sometimes get overzealous with boasting about underwhelming drug busts, and the savage people of facebook are hardly ever kind to them. People are fond of roasting terribly ancient guns too. This time people had some hard hitting jokes, as well as pretty decent points about the ridiculous nature of this particular bust.

Amateur Gastroegyptologist Seamus Blackley came across what he very much hopes are isolated strains of yeast off a few 4,500 year old Egyptian pots and figured it would be a good idea to make some bread out of it. He even went as far to make the dough out of grain used around the time the yeast would have been active, since what we know as modern wheat didn't exist at the time. Anyway, he baked a loaf and was able to taste some (hopefully) authentic ancient bread.

When people on facebook see something stupid, you can bet they're gonna call it out over and over again in every way they can think of. We're pretty sure this is becoming a thing, since a suspiciously similar situation happened when the internet roasted this guy's ridiculously old gun back into the last century.

If you're looking for cursed weird crap, look no further than Goodwill. You'll find mannequins with baby heads, Shrek rectal thermometers (Shrektal?), and signed crap from celebrities you forgot about. Whether or not this weird flex started off as a joke, the internet descended upon it with the ferocity of a thousand smug roast masters. If there's at least one thing that you can have faith in, it's the ability of the general public to hilariously tear something apart.
