Tumblr Users Analyze "The Incredibles" To Oblivion

Talk about an Incredible discourse. We can always count on the wandering minds of Tumblr to put their heads together, and churn out some real gems. This particular roundtable discussion centers on the infamous film, "The Incredibles." Maybe one of the best superhero movies of all time. So many easter eggs and intricate patterns throughout the film. The only question is how much of what's being discussed was intentional on the part of the filmmakers vs. pure coincidence?

Tumblr users go all in on a conversation about The Incredibles | silverhawk honestly tho scene incredibles where mr. incredible sees names all old super heroes used be his friends he knew Back Day and every one them has been killed by syndrome is such chilling scene so many reasons like one, everyone he knew is dead at this point and has been killed on same island he's at now and two, its heartbreaking bc means almost every hero wanted try out being hero again despite laws against and wanted try

Some of the Great Trollings of History

People have been around for long enough that prankery, shenanigans and cons have enjoyed a great heyday. Pranks and trickery are nothing new, and it's a breath of fresh air to learn that governments, generals, and famous historical figures totally messed with people. For some extra history, here are some history memes that are technically educational. For extra shenanigans, here are some mad lads who played by their own rules.

History Memes to Feel Smart About

Does knowing one or two facts about a particular battle actually make anyone that much more aware? Maybe a little. It's hard to tell. What knowing that historical context does do however, is set one up for some sweet memes that use all of history as a great well of inside jokes. For an interesting history thread, here's a tumblr thread about how mundane people are important to history.

25 Things People Would Treat Differently If They Had Better Names

There's a lot in a name. Some stuff that should be taken more seriously like deep vein thrombosis or hurricane evacuation areas gets bogged down under a name more pleasant than it should be. Other things like particular food and games would sound less dangerous if the name was more accurate. Other stuff, particularly urinal cakes, could just use a much more fun update.

Things That Are Way Newer Than People Think

Life looks a lot different now than it did even twenty or thirty years ago. As recently as fifty years ago, even scientists had a hugely different idea of how the world worked. And a hundred years ago? Screw that, no one wants to live in a world without functioning toilet paper or high fives. On the flipside, there's also tons of stuff that's way older than people think.

Fun and Frustration with The English Language

The English language has some confusing peculiarities to it that result in English struggles, but heck, most languages have some phonetic and semantic weirdness winding through them. And English isn't the only strange language. Here's a post defending the English language and how it's not the only weird language out there.

As real as that daydream may seem, its path through your brain runs opposite reality.

Aiming to discern discrete neural circuits, researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have tracked electrical activity in the brains of people who alternately imagined scenes or watched videos. "A really important problem in brain research is understanding how different parts of the brain are functionally connected. What areas are interacting? What is the direction of communication?" says Barry Van Veen, a UW-Madison professor of electrical and computer engineering. "We know that the brain does not function as a set of independent areas, but as a network of specialized areas that collaborate."

To look at this flourishing mass of plant life you'd think David Latimer was a green-fingered genius. Truth be told, however, his bottle garden – now almost in its 53rd year – hasn't taken up much of his time. In fact, on the last occasion he watered it Ted Heath was Prime Minister and Richard Nixon was in the White House.
