Twitter Thread: How Taylor Swift Cut Out Her Predatory Label

Whether you're a fan of Taylor Swift's music or not, it's interesting to learn about the long, long history of musicians signing horrible deals early in their careers and getting completely shafted later on when it comes to the rights of their own music. It's crazy to think that there are recording artists today don't own their own music, like we're still living in some old-timey Motown story of forgotten legends and cartoonishly evil businessmen. @ThatsMauvelous details the weird legal stunts Swift had to pull to get the rights to her music back from her old label.

Twitter Thread about Taylor Swift rerecording her music to cut out her old label.

Just in case you didn't know at this point, the whole Battlebots scene is nothing short of a brutal, gladiatorial spectacle. These dudes aren't playing games. It's a good thing that they didn't cheap out on the bulletproof glass.

Creepy and Imposing Signs That Aren't Messing Around

They say what you don't know can't hurt you. The "they" in that phrase seems not to have ever heard about dangerous heavy equipment, poisonous trees, and looming monkey attacks. These creepy signs make their message clear about what's coming for whom, and that's probably a good thing. Even though these terrifying signs speak the language of fear, they're still trying to tell us something, and that's better than nothing.

It's probably not a good idea to smash a superheated metal ball with a hammer without a plan. Okay, we're gonna go out on a limb here and say it's definitely a bad idea to smash a superheated metal ball with a hammer unless you're a blacksmith who know why he's smashing that ball in the first place. And it's probably an even worse idea to do it in a t shirt. That said, the result is some real chaos god/level 60 battlemage material.

Weird and Wild Junk People Were Told In Sex Ed

For a whole lot of people, sex ed was more of a fear factory than a sober discussion of scientific facts, and it's really weird how much unverified information and questionable analogies people are prepared to hare in order to get kids to do what they want. Yeah, a lot of awkward sex questions get asked in sex ed, but at least they sometimes get answered.

Sometimes you can just tell based off the title of a video, whether or not you're about to witness something very, very cool. Naturally, scale-model battleships duking it out in a lake arena will make for an entertaining spectacle.

You probably didn't hop on the internet today thinking that you'd end up stumbling upon a video of an enthusiastic man launching an anvil 100 feet into the air, but hey, here you are. The internet's always here to surprise us. Apparently Gay Wilkinson's a world champion anvil shooter. Right on.

Twitter Thread: Opening A Wildly Corroded Can Of Chef Boyardee

Twitter user @DinosaurDracula left people with their jaws on the floor after opening a wildly corroded can of Chef Boyardee from 1995. The monstrous contents that resulted from the grand reveal did not disappoint. Well, didn't disappoint in that they're just about as cursed as cursed food comes.

Misfortune Monday: It Never Ends

There's no question that the world is merciless. Water damage will destroy ceilings, shelves will collapse, and laptops will explode There's no good way to mitigate every single mistake, failure, error and blunder so we all just have to learn to deal with them. Knowing that life is uncertain doesn't make it less perilous, but it makes it slightly easier to live with.

While the noise that we hear in this video is absolutely giving off some unnerving, horrific vibes, it's equally mystifying to behold the mushroom hunter's superhuman level of chill. It looks like he's planning on returning to that same spot for another video, and we're honestly ready for it.

Just in case you were ever considering trying out base jumping, this guy's video of his base jump at a spot called "The Shard" is absolutely terrifying. The complete lack of hesitation is pretty surreal as well

Frightening Signs That Mean Serious Business

With the many threats in this world, we thankfully have ominous signs to go with them. While it's extremely frightening to see a sign that says "falling snakes" or "invisible poison gas area" or "molten lead splatter zone" it's still better that we have the warning in the first place. With all the varied and creative threats to dodge, it's no question why we have all these creepy signs that make their message clear.

Safety Failures That OSHA Wouldn't Be Too Happy About

Anyone in an even somewhat physical job has no doubt been told by their boss to pull some death-defying maneuvers. That's not a good thing, but it's also pretty amazing that there aren't more horrible accidents than there already are. We live in a world full of safety failures that would make OSHA faint. Whether it's an over-creative use of ladders or some bone-headed work with the circular saw, there's just tons of OSHA-unapproved moments of safety failure.
