'[I] ended up doing other people's jobs for them': Worker hired as IT Director finds himself in a very different role and increasingly pushed to the side

As nerve-wracking as it can be, starting a new job can also be an exciting experience. New challenges and opportunities await… Unless the job you've been hired for isn't actually as advertised. See, there's this thing that can happen where all optimism you had for the new role evaporates as you slowly realize that the job you've been hired for doesn't actually exist in the way you thought it did and the organization you're working for has no idea how the job they hired you for should function.…

'You said I needed to submit my essay, here it is': Professor denies college student's request for an extension, student discovers professor's grading secret

Lazy college professors should not be allowed to be strict. Like any social contract, everything should be a two-way street: if you're expected to deliver quality, they need to do the same. Otherwise, as far as we're concerned, the social contract is null and void. We made sure that nonsense was shut down as soon as we could.

Million-dollar Florida beach house confuses the internet with its mysterious second-floor entry

Would designers really build a house that no one could enter ? The internet was wondering that very question about one house in particular. This home is located in Florida, home of all things quirky and kooky. It's a beautiful home, and it's conveniently raised up on stilts (since, you know, Florida floods constantly). However, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the listing doesn't seem to include a set of stairs into the home. The listing, posted by @ZillowGoneWild, notes that you have to climb t…

We've all heard stories of a new neighbor who moves in and acts like they run the block . Well, that's precisely what happened in this case. Our OP shared a story about his 56-year-old mother, who has lived in her house for over 30 years. She knew the last neighbor for over 20 years and never had any issues. She has been happily maintaining her yard and growing her beautiful garden for over 30 years, and then entered the new entitled neighbor. It started with him clearing some trees to put up a…

'[He] wants my 1963 Fender': Musician refuses to give her $3,000 vintage guitar to her teenaged stepson; stands her ground even when accosted by family

Kids don't understand the value of things. It may sound old school, but the only way to really know what something is worth, is to work really hard to acquire it. And just like we learned when watching Antiques Roadshow at 2AM, when it comes to vintage, classic, or collector's valuables, there's more than just the monetary value to something– that lazy-eyed clown doll may seem worthless, but to the clown collecting bag lady, it's priceless.

'Break time is alone time': Employee stops eating lunch with annoying coworkers, one takes it personally and starts sabotaging her

There is something to be said for creating a healthy distance with your coworkers. Most folks understand this choice. ‘I called their bluff’: Frugal driver saves $80 on a parking ticket by pushing back on the fine print and threatening legal action

Parking tickets are objectively the worst. As drivers, all we ever really want is to pull up with ease, park right away, and move on with our lives, but if you live in a city, your odds of finding a parking spot immediately are slim. Sharks lurk in their tiny parking police golf carts, waiting for impatient drivers to slip up, so they can slap an irksome fee on your windshield. Heed my words, never mess with the parking police– unless they mess with you first!
