Interviewing is exhausting. You update your resume 14 times, change your cover letters, and rewrite your personal statement more times than you can count before you're even offered an interview. It may be a sweet moment when you score your first call-back, but your job search has only just begun.

Since humans are creatures of preparedness, unemployed folks will often rehearse potential interview question responses, attempting to put their best foot forward in order to score a new job. But sometimes, an interviewer will throw in a saucy question (or two) into an interview in order to get an honest reaction out of a prospective employee– to which, most of the time, nobody has the right answer.

We've learned all about the ‘tips for a successful job application’ but what about the things to avoid? We've learned how to crush an interview, but how can we completely and utterly blow it?

When you've been stuck in the interview process for too long, it starts to get exhausting. Slapping a new smile on everyday, answering the same 3 questions, and thinking of how to spin your greatest weaknesses into positive, work-related gibberish feels futile. Sorry Patricia, my greatest weakness is not my overly strong work ethic… my weakness is an entire box of Little Debbie Shortcake Rolls.

Looking for a job is stressful, mainly because you need to send out 1,000 resumes and chit-chat with 100 interviewers before ever getting into a room with a company to discuss the job. For that reason, a lot of folks looking for work will often spam out their resume in a mass-application, which inevitably leads to them forgetting what position they're even applying for. We just need a job, okay?

The fear that ChatGPT, or some other AI, could replace your job in the near future is an absolutely real one—especially when your job mainly consists of writing short, accessible pieces that someone may or may not even read when they visit your webpage. ChatGPT assures me, when I ask it, that there's no way that it could replace a human writer completely… but what if that's just what it wants me to think so that it can covertly plot to put me out of business? How are we even certain that ChatGP…
