Chika chika chika bop paaaaaa

Oh, sorry, I was just tryping out the theme from the classic Nicktoon Doug. Remember Doug? It was that show about a boring middle schooler, which was somehow really compelling.

Well, one of the thigns that gave that show its charms was the sound effects. From the scatty theme song to all those nasally characters, Doug was just as well known for it's sound as its look.

Great Big Story sat down with the man behind it all. Fred Newman is a voice over artist who mde all those sounds with his mouth. He asl odid voices for Harry and the HndersonsWho Framed Roger Rabbit?, and, everybody's favorite movie, Gremlins

So if you ever watched Doug and wanted to know how all those sounds were made, this is the video for you.

San Francisco man Scott Francis Weaver crafted this toothpick sculpture over the course of thirty-six years, autobiographically constructing some of his greatest life moments and the details of his travels. All told, he used 103,987 toothpicks and spent over three thousand hours working on the project. Now that I feel entirely unproductive, I'll let you all get back to your business!
